Miyata 912 vintage road bike singlespeed 58cm custom refurbished

The classic parts bin bike! 

The Miyata 912 triple butted frameset is from the Golden Era of Made in Japan quality materials and fabrication. The chromoly steel tubing is a story of its own: triple butted and splined made in house at their own steel manufactory. They leveraged their experience and history as a rifle barrel maker for exceptionally crafted tubing. The short point lugs and were also made in house. This 912 frame and fork is the 'semi-pro' level, so the rear stays and fork blades are chromoly steel too. Light, fast, responsive, sick. 

The headset was a new old stock Tange. Black ano SR stem and some Felt riser bars are mid-aughts fit and style. 

We had some fun building this up with a singlespeed cassette rear hub built on to a ridiculously sturdy deep V rim and paired to an orphaned Mavic Ksyrium SL front wheel. Panaracer made 700c Jack Brown 25.5mm "race" tires make it a rider. There is room for fenders or 32mm tires, but not both. Choose wisely.

The Gimondi crank was overzealously cleaned in the Ultrasonic one weekend. My bad. It is still a fine cool classic fluted crank set. Sealed BB and 42t chainring with a KMC chain and 18t rear cog make this a nice spinning non-fixie roadie. You'll get up hills without too much grunting. The derailleur hanger is straight and intact so if you want to make it a derailleur bike again you have that option. 

Dual pivot brakes and NOS dia Compe SS4 short pull brake levers with new pads, cable and housing ensure safety. 

Fit: the 58cm frame and shorter 56cm tup tube make this ideal for more upright city use. The ideal human body range is in the 5'10" to 6'1" range. Longer legs, bigger wingspans may fit better or differently.
